About Us

Welcome to Botanical Honey Farm

Bee Strong

We love to share our honey and our story – Olga and Jan, and son Jan, deeply appreciate working together to nurture the bees and it’s been a wonderful activity we’ve enjoyed together. Our family is inspired by the resilience of bees, and we started beekeeping as a hobby we could do together to strengthen our bond as a family after coping with difficult health news. Bees form a community that gives them strength to overcome adversity, just like us. And our son was initially drawn to the element of danger.

After growing up together in a rural village in Czech Republic, Olga and Jan left their home in the 1990s to seek more opportunity for their baby in America. Olga calls herself a “woman of the trades” because she had to learn so many trades like cooking, canning, baking, smoking meat, sewing, and even moonshining in order to survive and thrive under communism. Jan and his family were farmers, sharing a love of the land and animals, but now Jan’s passion is focused specifically on caring for the bees and researching the latest techniques to ensure the hive is thriving. It’s been such a blessing for father and son, Jan and Jan, to work together to learn the process and take care of the bees. Son, Jan, is enjoying learning the business of selling from his mother, Olga. Our family recognizes how important and special it is to carry on the tradition and enjoys time working with each other.

We bring an old-world sensibility and leverage modern, sustainable techniques to produce small batch, award-winning pure, raw, unfiltered honey right here in the Chicagoland area.
